The History of The Wright House
The story of The Wright House begins in the 1930s when it was originally built as a farmhouse outside the young city of Mesa. Surrounded by a white picket fence, it stood along a dirt road leading to the historic Hayden Flour Mill in Tempe.
In the 1930s, Lorenzo and Teresa Wright purchased the property. Lorenzo and his son Harold started a grocery business in Mesa, which thrived for 50 years. Later, in 1945, Harold and his wife Leah purchased the house and transformed it into a warm family home. Leah’s love of gardening brought vibrant flowers and lush greenery to the property, many of which remain to this day.
Harold and Leah’s son, Michael, and his wife, Peggy, reimagined the home into The Wright House, Garden Reception Centre, in 1991. Their vision was to create a space of peace, beauty, and entertainment for special events. For decades, The Wright House has been a place where countless memories have been made, from family gatherings to wedding celebrations.
