The closest one can get to Mayon with a land vehicle. The Skyline is at 2,700 feet (823 meters) close to the crater at 8,077 feet (2,462 meters). This place is at 8.3 kilometers from the main highway which slopes upwad almost immediately as you enter the intersection. I saw a group of gentlemen who used bicycles which according to them took them 58 minutes. Of course a motorized vehicle will take it less than 15 minutes. You can also get a view of the nearby Mount Malinao and Tabaco City. I pay homage to the volcano when visiting Legazpi and Tabaco cities.

We recently visited Mayon Volcano and overall, it was a great experience! The views are absolutely stunning—definitely a 10/10 for photo opportunities. The volcano looked majestic even though the weather wasn’t on our side that day, with clouds covering the peak. Of course, that’s beyond anyone’s control.
The overall experience itself was unforgettable, also a 10/10. However, I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 for a few small reasons. There were very limited souvenir options available—just a small selection, so 7/10 for that. As for food, there wasn’t much variety. Mostly just pica-pica like junk food, cup noodles, and soft drinks—good enough for a picnic, but not ideal if you're looking for a proper meal (6/10).
Also, the planetarium was closed when we went, which was a bit disappointing, but everything else was open and accessible.
Still, highly recommended for the views and the unique experience!
