It was a one night treat during our long and busy Philippines itinerary.

My wife and I arrived to the resort at nighttime. Our boat crew was very careful going to the resort. We are greeted by the lovely staff. They instructed us about the resort and the island. The island has some cheeky locals, macaque monkeys. We were warned not to closely encounter them, because they can get very close and break in rooms and steal stuff 🙂 However, it was nice to wake up and being surrounded by these funny local hosts. Some even tried to open our door. Thankfully, we followed the staffs' instructions and the monkey couldn't get in 🙂

The manager is a lovely lady, with whom we had a short chat with. She told us that the resort runs 100% with solar energy. At first, I complained about the lack of hot water, but when I learned that the resort tries to he as much sustainable as they can, I withdrew my conplaint.

It is an incredible place, respectful of the nature, as well as guests. I strongly recommend spending at least a night here if you need a day to relax and chill. The massage was the best my wife and I had in our lives. Actually, it was the first massage my wife had and the masseuse set the bar too high 🙂

We had a fantastic stay at Sangat Island Dive Resort. Me and my partner took our Open Water Diver here with the lovliest intructor Yves. Our diving experience here was fantastic – it's so convenient to have the diving shop right nearby as well as the dive sites. The resort staff is so friendly and helpful, and the island is stunning and pristine with lots of interesting things to observe like native monkeys and birds.

My husband and I spent a wonderful four nights at Sangat and didn’t want to leave by the end. This is a great spot for those looking for a relaxing vacation with very tasty/nourishing food, excellent service, and a great dive shop. The rooms are humble and provide the essentials, as well as nice hammocks and lounge chairs. Recommend bringing bug spray for the mosquitos, although the bugs weren’t bad when we visited (early December). Expect to see monkeys!

Highly recommend Sangat for anyone wanting to dive in Coron. It was clear to us that the environment is one of Sangat’s priorities. We did 10 dives as relatively new divers, and Tom and the other dive shop staff were incredibly accommodating. Tom (the dive instructor) guided us through our last three advanced open water dives and was a great instructor. The equipment worked well for the dives in the area, and we were well taken care of by the staff. The state of the coral on the wrecks and in the reefs was impressive. We saw lots of tropical fish (saw at least three pufferfish, lionfish, scorpion fish, batfish, clownfish, rainbow parrotfish, many schools), two sea turtles, a cuddlefish, and a variety of healthy hard and soft corals. The wrecks were very fun to swim through.

If you have the chance, ask for a tour of their off-grid system. Their solar/battery storage/inverter system and desalination system were impressive. The desalinated water was good to drink (we did not get sick).
