It's a beautiful park. Lots of trails and places to explore. It's not your average kind of park. There is a very large grassy area at the front of the park where you can play football, toss a Frisbee, or just sit and read a book, and can accommodate quite a lot of people. The rest of the park is comprised of rocks and mountain-like terrain that is filled with many trails to explore. There are picnic tables as well as grills for those lucky enough who there early enough to get one. You can also make reservations for one of their picnic sites if you're planning a reception or big gathering. It's a beautiful park full of scrub brush, pine trees, and cacti, as well as outcroppings of rocks scattered all through the park. At the top of the long winding road is a beautiful look out of the western side of the city. It's a great place to view the front range of the rocky mountains in all its glory. Be careful as you drive through the park though the speed limit is 20mph, but even that slows down around some of the sharp blind curves. Just keep in mind that a lot of people come to this park to enjoy. Pedestrians, bicyclists, and dogs and horses too. There is a designated dog park here as well, though, it's not much to boast about. It's just a fenced-in mud pit in my opinion, but you can let Fido off the leash in there. In the rest of the park, the leash laws are enforced. There is a baseball field here as well and stables are also towards the Circle Dr. side of the park. The park is huge going from N. Academy and Maizeland to Circle and Union Blvd. and from there it cuts through some neighborhoods around Austin Bluffs and Carefree and back to Academy. So come and enjoy a day in the mountains in the middle of bustling Colorado Springs, you and your family will have a great day hiking and exploring, and who knows maybe you'll see a deer or two. I forgot to mention there is quite a lot of wildlife here as well. So enjoy one of the city's finest parks.

My go to spot. Always a great place to take the 🐶 for a hike for sure. She loves it here as much or more than I do. So much to explore. Far better than flat ol boring walking trails. The trails are also great for mountain biking. More challenging than you might expect from a publicly frequented park in the middle of town.

A must do in Colorado Springs. Fantastic views of the city, beautiful flowering cacti and plants around June, and some awesome rock formations that you can explore. Lots of parking and super easy access for all. Dog friendly and parts of the trails are actually off leash.
