If you love history and architecture of the late 1800s into the early 1900s, this place will delight. The homes are simply fascinating with drool worthy examples of Art Deco and Mission and some Art Nuevo. The wonderful and sometimes strange design choices are so fun and interesting. Woodworkers will be enthralled by the uses of wood in the house of a mill wright. The tour is guided by very knowledgeable guides that are super fun and friendly.
I wouldn't recommend for very small children but anyone with a love of history will enjoy spending time exploring these houses.

A surprise and delight. We were surprised to find something like this in Flagstaff. It is a little tricky to find, even on google maps – but well worth it. It reminded us of the Gamble House in Pasadena, CA. The architecture, furnishings – and the history – were fascinating. The wood paneling is impressive; also a little sad when you realize so much of the forest is gone as a result. Our guide was excellent – a modest intern who was nonetheless extremely knowledgeable. The grounds aren't huge, but lovely.
Flagstaff had other great surprises too. Add a day on your way to or from the Grand Canyon, and visit here.

For anyone that loves house tours & history- definitely put this on your list! Highlight of our trip for me. I did the guided tour, self-guided tour & Jr Ranger packet & learned different things from each one. Such cool history in a calm and beautiful place.

Note to facilitators- please add better AC in the visitors center!
