I have been the Alternate Principal Percussionist of the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra since 2006 and I have always loved working at this venue. Former instructors Marcus Sirman and Sui-Fan Wong did a heck of a job – prior to their untimely departure – of training an entire generation of audiovisual technicians and stage managers to provide me with the comprehensive and elaborate support that I have needed over the years in order to do my job. In addition, the College has maintained – despite the closing of the music school – a beautiful arsenal of percussion instruments which they welcome me to use so that I don't have to bring everything from off campus. Here are some highlight photos of dress rehearsals and shows I've done over the years including everything from Tchaikovsky, Haydn, and Mahler symphonies to pop and folk shows comprising Artistic Director Claude Lapalme's brilliant orchestrations. I hope to continue playing here with the symphony again! Such a great venue!

Terrific venue! This was my first visit and I would see a show here anytime! The location is convenient, parking is ample, and the theatre is great. Seats are comfortable, roomy and well situated for good viewing in any spot. The little concession is a nice amenity too.

This is a nice facility where we attended Red Deer's fine symphony. The symphony season is delightful and varied and well worth considering. Red Deer's crowd is appreciative and unpretentious and are well served by fine local musicians, support from musicians from larger centres and exceptional guest soloists. Conductor Claude Lapalme has been a gift to Red Deer's musical community and hosts the concerts with good cheer, helpful support in appreciating the selections, and engaging interpretations of the works.
