I stopped by San Sebastian Parish Church in Lumban during yesterday’s heritage run—had a quick peek inside and out (and yes, a few photos)—and it felt quietly majestic. Parking’s decent unless you're driving, but the gust of traffic nearby reminded me it sits right along a busy road. What struck me most: this is Laguna’s first stone church, finished in 1600 by Franciscans, and it even hosted the first tabernacle and Eucharistic procession outside Manila! Today, it's still a pride of the town with a three-story façade and the familiar silhouette of its octagonal bell tower topped by St. Sebastian. They even started the first school for church music in the country here in 1606—imagine 400 boys trained in hymns and instruments inside these walls. It’s amazing how a quick visit can uncover layers of beauty, faith, and history—all right there beside the highway.

As home to the first tabernacle outside Manila, this church preserves an essential part of early Catholic history in the Philippines.
