I'm a diamond member and have stayed at many Hilton properties. For the most part all the properties I've stayed at were great, I've even stayed at Double Tree South Bend twice before my last visit January 16-18th 2026. I have to say this stay was a huge disappointment. First off no hot water Saturday, but that's not as bad as not being able to rest after being on a 10 hour flight . I'm not blaming the hotel staff 100% I feel the chaperone and parents of the five children's hockey teams should be held accountable for not watching those kids running around and causing havoc in the hotel. The staff did try and gain control but it was chaotic all weekend. Some of the adults with the teams were promoting the chaos. Chasing the kids around the hotel. There were a few children that did have manners and was not part of the chaos. I blame the hotel staff, for not giving the chaperone or parents an ultimatum that if they didn't control the kids they would be asked to leave the property. We are paying customers as well and it wasn't fair that we didn't get what we paid for because of those unruly, disrespectful kids and parents! Double Tree, you have to do better for all your patrons not just a few!

Our stay was to relax, swim and enjoy Valentine's weekend, however, it was not sweet. Our weekend was aggravating. First our showers were cold, I wish I would have checked the reviews. We wanted to swim, the site did say parden our construction but nothing about the pool being closed. The room was big and updated but had construction dust everywhere. We payed extra for a corner room with a view but the windows were dirty and the seals were broken so we could barely see out the windows. We have a suburban so had to park in the large vehicle lot that has very few spaces and is extremely tight and hard to park. When we got back late at night exhausted from a concert, the parking lot was full so had to figure out parking. We had to go a block away to a public lot, this was frustrating. The room does not have a microwave and the carpet in the hallway outside our door was in dire need of vacuuming. I did like that the room had laminate instead of carpet which makes it cleaner. We did not eat breakfast there because the reviews were so bad and there was some good restaurants around. I am very disappointed overall and wouldn't suggest staying there until they get their repairs done.

How in the world are people giving this hotel a 5/5? Compared to what?!

1.) First night, we got in late. Took a shower (had hot water) and noticed the towels were coated in yellow grime. There was also yellow stuff on the sinks. We were told that it was from a leak in the ceiling from the room above. We (and the people above us) had to repack and move to another room. Second room was great but we had to call the engineer back because there was an issue with the air conditioning unit. The engineer and gentlemen at the lobby were very nice.
2.) one morning, my dad went to the restaurant to get coffee and the waitress made him go to the back of the restaurant and fill it himself. He was literally the only customer there.
3.) the restaurant is incredibly understaffed which is unfortunate because their food is actually really good and reasonably priced.
We waited to be served for over 30 minutes. 5 groups of people and one person at the bar on a Saturday night. Your servers are tired and need help.
4.) there is stuff everywhere. I get needing to do remodeling but there is zero attempt to hide it. Toilets can be seen in the windows. There is a graveyard of broken dressers and old furniture for all to see in the parking garage. They literally make temporary walls to cover this type of stuff up.
5.) there was exposed wiring in the parking garage
6.) broken PVC pipe in the garage leaking constantly
7.) one morning there were beer bottles and liquor glasses all over the lobby area.
8.) be aware that food delivery via doordash, Uber etc can take a while on the weekends.

    Credit where it's due:
*Starbucks inside the hotel is awesome
    *Restaurant food was delicious
    *Employees are friendly
