When I was a kid, I had the chance to temporarily stay at this hotel because my aunt and auntie chose it as the location to film their wedding. It was such a special experience being there with them during this important time in their lives. I have so many fond memories, from watching them prepare and celebrate, to enjoying the very amazing swimming pool and just exploring the hotel. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the place felt both elegant and comfortable. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a temporary but meaningful stay, especially for special events like weddings or celebrations.

I understand why people said this hotel was “decent” coz thats just what it is. So I booked this coz the other hotel was fully booked.

    First the good
    1. Room was clean
    2. Room aircon worked well
    3. Location is very near the airport
    4. They allowed early check in for a fee
    5. Water in shower is nice and strong
    6. Public transportation is available right outside the hotel

    What needs improvement
    1. My room in particular was all the way at the very end of the property. 3 min walk to the main lobby. Doesnt sound so bad but at night it pretty scary since the hotel was empty and there was no one in area i was in.

    2. Service was so-so.
    3. Security cameras werent hooked up
    4. Security in general needs to be improved. It feels like anything could happen in the empty areas of the huge property

In general my issue is focused more on the resort’s security than anything else and maybe training for staff to improve their hospitality.

I don’t like to write negative reviews, but I think this place deserves one so future guests can make a more informed choice. Here’s my experience at Garden Orchid Hotel in Zamboanga.

    Overall impression
    – The hotel is marketed as luxurious and expensive, but in my view it felt outdated and not worth the price.
    – Some features did not live up to the photos or the premium feel the property tries to convey.

    Rooms
    – We booked as a couple but were given two single beds. Not ideal for a romantic stay and not what we expected from a “luxurious” hotel.
    – The bed comfort was disappointing; not very comfortable for a good night’s sleep.
    – There were hairs in the bed that did not appear to be ours, which was off-putting.
    – In-room amenities were limited; when we asked for tea, we were only offered coffee. Tea bags could be purchased for 65 pesos, which felt steep for a small convenience item.

    Breakfast
    – Breakfast was adequate, perhaps better than nothing, but it did not stand out as a highlight of the stay.

    Facilities
    – Pool: Appeared more impressive in photos than in person. Smaller than expected and not as inviting.
    – Sauna: The sauna was closed on Sunday and only open until 8 PM on other days. Given the hotel’s luxury branding, this felt inconsistent with guest expectations for premium wellness amenities.

    Value
    – With the price tag, I expected more polished service, better room quality, and fully functioning facilities. Some aspects were underwhelming for a hotel marketed as luxurious.

    Tips for future guests
    – If a luxurious experience is what you’re after, consider comparing room types and reading recent guest photos to gauge real-time condition.
    – Confirm spa and pool hours in advance, especially if you’re visiting on weekends.
    – If tea is important to you, budget for it separately or check if complimentary beverages are included in your rate.
    – Ask for a room with a confirmed bed configuration and a clean, well-maintained bathroom to avoid disappointments.
