Gerardo’s is a welcome addition to Zamboanga’s dining scene, located conveniently beside Palacio del Sur and the Marcian Garden Hotel. As part of the Marcian Group, it exudes sophistication with its beautifully decorated interiors, spacious layout, high ceilings, and excellent ventilation. The ambiance is upscale yet inviting, with clean interiors, attentive staff, and perfectly cool air conditioning. The music volume was just right, making the atmosphere enjoyable and relaxing.
One charming touch is the creative naming of their dishes, which adds character and personality to the dining experience.
We tried three dishes:
• Tomador Shrimps: These crispy, deep-fried shrimps were a highlight. The batter was light, allowing the natural flavor of the shrimp to shine through, and the shrimps were so crispy that you could eat them whole. The accompanying sauce complemented the dish well, though we personally would have preferred a slightly thicker and sweeter sauce. Still, it was a fantastic dish overall.
• Tiulah Itum: This unique beef dish, cooked in charred black coconut, stood out with its rich, bold flavor and subtle spice. The beef was tender, and the portion was generous. The dish’s dark greenish hue was intriguing and added to its appeal, making it a must-try for adventurous foodies.
• Blue Marlin Fistek Walastik: This was the showstopper. Perfectly cooked with a delightful char-grill aroma, the Blue Marlin was tender, flavorful, and paired beautifully with the tangy green mango and tomato salad, topped with sautéed bagoong. The balance of flavors and textures made this dish unforgettable.
Verdict:
Gerardo’s is a must-visit for anyone in Zamboanga. It ticks all the boxes with its delicious food, great ambiance, and reasonable prices. Highly recommended for a memorable dining experience!
