This hotel is incredible and the staff really are a dream. We brought our two young boys (2.5 and 8 months) to the hotel for a long weekend to celebrate a special occasion. It was our first time traveling long distance with them and the staff went above and beyond to make it comfortable and memorable. The cribs were both set up in the room upon arrival and after a mixup with not having a fridge that could keep breastmilk chilled they were able to move us to a room that had a full working fridge and freezer and we were set for our four nights.

The room was stunning, spacious and beautiful. The property is large, well kept and felt incredibly safe. Golf carts are the best way to get around if you don’t like walking but we ended up opting to walk more than ride and our only complaint is that the villa side was very far from the nicer beach area making it hard to bring the kiddos to, but they were fine by the pool and so were we.

The food was great (we had room service for dinner, tried the hibachi restaurant – amazing service and the edamame was the best ever!, ordered lunch from the pool bar and had breakfast every morning at waters edge). The property is tucked away a little far from anything else, but we were able to get around easily with our rental car, which we could also park right in front of our villa every night for free. Unfortunately the spa was closed for 2 of the days we were there so I wasn’t able to get a treatment like I had planned, but I made up for it with relaxing days by the pool. The market was great for morning coffee and the resort store saved us when we realized my husband forgot his bathing suit!

Pro tip: Make sure to take a walk along the coastline – there are hidden swings, hammocks, and gorgeous private beach coves, which we loved exploring!

Shout out to Edwin for making our special occasion even more special and Jacob for a pleasant check in experience. We love Hyatt and this property affirms that! Highly recommend for families and couples alike!

I noticed the recent reviews complaining about the service at this property and think they deserve an honest rebuttal.

I'm not sure why the other customers were surprised about the automatically added 16% gratuity on meals. It's clearly marked on menus and receipts, and was even circled or otherwise marked in pen on all of our receipts during our recent 6-night stay. We tacked on a little more each time to bring it up to 20%. The resort fee is noted on the website and also should not be a surprise.

The truth is, this is a very nice property with a beautiful beach and multiple pools (including a large lagoon-style pool with a swim-up bar) that is at the top of a palm-dotted peninsula lined by a PGA Tour-level golf course, which hosts the Puerto Rico Open every March. The staff we encountered were friendly and helpful, especially upon check-in. When I told the guest services manager prior to our arrival that it was our 10-year anniversary, we were upgraded to a room with a view of the ocean that was just steps from the beach.

I agree that the food is not very good, especially if you're after more refined fare, but there are plenty of options to choose from and lots of good local fare nearby. If you have the time and means to leave the property, you should. The Ocean on Your Table on Highway 3 served some of the best food I've had on any vacation, and Cafe Jardin was a great spot for coffee. Both are a short drive or taxi ride away. The rainforest is next door (ziplining at Junglequi was a blast) and ferries to Culebra and Vieques are 45 minutes away and very easy to book.

The ocean is grassy and a little rocky after around 10 feet, so bring water shoes or Velcroed sandals if you plan to wander farther, where it does clear up again. The resort offers kayaks and paddleboards for free to use in the ocean, and bikes to ride around the property. There are some nice tennis and pickleball courts, a putting green, a ping pong table and various other activities — plenty to keep you busy, if that's your thing. But there are also ample lounge chairs at the beach and in the pool areas where you can relax. They also have a 24-hour market and gift shop on site.

Tip: At high tide, there's enough space to do a little snorkeling near the shore, from the rockpiles on the south side of the resort all the way around the tip of the peninsula. Just swim along the inner edges of the grass and rocks to see all sorts of small- to medium-sized reef fish. We even saw a few barracudas and a live conch. There is better snorkeling elsewhere, if that's your thing, including at Tamarindo beach on Culebra, where sea turtles come in to feed on the grass in the calm, clear bay.

In our room (king deluxe with an ocean view) we had a large flatscreen TV, plenty of drawers and hangers for clothes, new coffee maker and teakettle, a seating area and a balcony with chairs and a view of the beach. I wasn't a fan of the shower set-up (ours was right next to the bathtub, a tight squeeze) but it didn't deduct from my enjoyment of the property.

TL; DR: This is a nice property with a beautiful beach and pools. If you're looking for delicious food, you may need to rent a car or pay for a taxi.

Had a wonderful time! Very friendly staff. Excellent location and grounds. Loved the beach, the food, the drinks. Make sure to reserve times at the restaurants ahead of time. Would suggest renting a car to be able to go to el yunque but uber is convenient to and from the airport. Staff does need to communicate better across functions eg front desk didn’t know that molido was closed for renovations, bar didn’t know that kayaks were not available on Sundays etc.
