Excellent museum with well-curated permanent and temporary exhibitions – a true gem in Chicago. Their collection gives a great overview of Mexican art in North America, from ancient times until today.

While the museum isn’t huge (plan for a visit of approximately 2 hours), the diversity and details of the artworks on display, from the Mesoamerican era to contemporary pieces, is fascinating to see.

We also appreciated the friendly staff, the free entry, and the opportunity to leave our coats at the front desk, which made our visit so much more enjoyable.

The National Museum of Mexican Art is absolutely beautiful! It’s well taken care of, very clean, and the staff are all so friendly. I brought my boyfriend for his first visit — he’s Lithuanian — and he really enjoyed learning about Día de los Muertos and the rich Mexican heritage showcased here. The exhibits are vibrant, meaningful, and full of culture. It’s also amazing that admission is free! We’ll definitely be back again soon. Bonus points: it’s located near lots of great food spots too! 🌮💀❤️

Lovely museum with unique pieces of art that you will rarely see in other galleries. The neighborhood it's in awesome and also very artsy and proud of their Mexican heritage. Located just a few blocks away is a street with lots of bars, small art galleries, and unique restaurants, it's amazing neighborhood to stay in a hotel and explore!
