It's clean inside and the librarianas are very friendly. I love how they maintain the cleanness well and conduct activities like chess club, ASL, book clubs and others. I strongly recommend this library to anyone looking for activities.

I have always enjoyed coming to this library, which is why this experience was so disappointing.

On January 28, 2026, I reserved a study room for the first time (a two-hour slot ending at 12:18 PM). It was a quiet morning (Wednesday), and the room was quite cold, so I stepped out around 12:10 PM, before my reservation had even expired, and tried to find seat in the open area.

About two minutes later, while I was still looking for a table, I was paged over the loudspeaker in a way that was both surprising and uncomfortable. The announcement included my name followed by “the Asian,” asking me to come to the front desk. While I am Asian, there was no reason to reference my race or ethnicity in a public announcement. It was unnecessary and inappropriate in this context.

I was also confused by the urgency and tone, given that I had only stepped away from the room for a couple of minutes and my reservation time had not yet ended. I was literally walking around with my computer still in hand.

When I raised this concern afterward, I had hoped for understanding, but the response felt defensive rather than receptive. Overall, it was a very unpleasant interaction in a place where I’ve always felt comfortable.

After such a major investment in improving the space, I hope library leadership will also ensure that staff interactions reflect the same welcoming and respectful environment for all patrons.

WOW! This library value has went DOWN! I used to utilize this library all the time when I was in high school, I attended NSCHS class of 2012. I'm now here 2026 & the staff I guess no longer follow the "quiet rule" they basically are yelling. So cringe! Lead by example, if the employees are talking loudly that encourages EVERYONE else to feel free to scream! GEEESSSHHH I'll be doing my studying elsewhere -_-
