This is a beautiful lake that my wife and I have visited three nights in a row to fish and relax. It is extremely accessible, never crowded, and a pleasure to walk around or even just sit by. The old mill and the dam are wonderful features of this lake that you won’t want to miss. The fishing is alright, but a bit slim for a stocked lake, and all of the fish are extremely skittish, and know they are being fished. I didn’t catch any keepers, just a couple very small bass, and a bluegill. I saw one kid catch a pretty decent bass, but since they’re all so skittish, I really
thing you have be extremely stealthy, or lucky. It’s really such a pleasant place to visit, it just feels so peaceful with the mill, the still lake and farmland all around. There are plenty of Amish families that live all around the lot as well, so we frequently saw them riding by in their horse-drawn carriages also. I will remember this lake very fondly, and hope for another opportunity to visit again!

Such a wonderful place to take a walk along the lake! The landscape is beautiful and idyllic. You should definitely visit when you're in Harrisonburg.

This place offers free tours and shares the history of the mill. It was burned by General Custer during the war and burned again a few years later. It has changed hands several times since then. The mill is not in operation now, but all of the mechanisms are in place and functional. The lake is beautiful, especially from the upper windows of the mill.
