The Barnacle historic landmark just off Main and Commodore in The Grove is an amazing “have too stop” while visiting Miami. You should deposit the Two Dollars Into The Box To Help Us Maintain The Grounds.
Unfortunately, it’s not advertised and almost everyone misses it. They stroll by, look 👀 and keep on walking towards the crowds along Commodore Plaza to see and be seen, missing this spectacular landmark.
The walk leads out to an ocean view by the boat house.
This site was one of the original landing zones for the Bahamians who traded with the indIgenous Seminoles Americans. The medicinal qualities of the tree bark and some mushrooms boiled and eaten from the hammocks are known to soothe out just about any stomach issues including diarrhea.

If you’re looking for a short escape from the crowds of Miami, Barnacle Historic State Park, located in Coconut Grove, is perfect for you. It houses The Barnacle, built in 1891, which is the oldest house still standing in its original location in Miami-Dade County. The home of Ralph Munroe offers a unique experience both in terms of history and natural beauty.

This is a great little park which has a lot of history within it. The house tour was well worth doing with a good detailed explanation of the house and contents from the rangers.
