The Cutting Room – A Night to Remember in NYC!
I’ve been to my fair share of music venues in New York City, but The Cutting Room is one that will truly stick with me. Tucked away on East 32nd Street, it has this rare ability to feel like a grand theater and a cozy neighborhood club all at once. From the moment I walked in, I felt like I’d stepped into a space that was equal parts rock-and-roll and old-world elegance.
The décor immediately caught my eye—chandeliers casting a warm glow, eclectic artwork on the walls, and an atmosphere that was at once stylish and inviting. It’s the kind of place where you feel just as comfortable sipping a cocktail in a suit as you do relaxing in jeans and a t-shirt. There aren’t many venues in the city that pull off that balance so effortlessly.
What impressed me most was the layout. No matter where you sit, you feel close to the action. I wasn’t in the front row, but I never once felt far from the performance. There’s an intimacy here that’s hard to describe—you can see the expressions on the musicians’ faces, hear the subtle details in their playing, and really connect with the show.
And the sound? Incredible. Too many venues either crank the volume until it’s muddy or don’t give enough attention to the mix, but The Cutting Room nails it. Everything was crisp and balanced—the vocals soared, the instruments blended perfectly, and the room seemed to amplify the energy rather than drown it out.
I made the trek from Long Island to The Cutting Room, partially to experience this famous place, but also to see Hannah Ray Teal and her great band. Back from her triumphant tour, I was excited that she had the opportunity to impress old and new fans alike at this iconic place. And impress they did, putting a really lively show of familiar covers and sweet originals. Also, the band's new sax player really punches up their sound. The energy in the room makes it the kind of place where magic can happen.
I was also pleasantly surprised by the food and drinks. I’ve learned not to expect much from music venues when it comes to dining, but The Cutting Room exceeded those expectations. The menu leans into shareable comfort food with a polished twist, and everything we tried was flavorful and satisfying. The cocktails were creative, strong, and matched the vibe of the night perfectly. Well done Moscow Mules for sure…:)
Service deserves a mention, too. The staff were attentive without hovering, and they kept things moving smoothly even though the house was packed. It felt like they cared about making sure everyone had a good time, which only added to the overall atmosphere.
What I took away most from my night at The Cutting Room was the sense of community. It didn’t feel like just another night out in New York—it felt like being part of something special. The venue has this way of bringing people together, reminding you why live music matters in the first place.
Final Thoughts
If you love live music, you owe it to yourself to experience The Cutting Room. It’s not just about hearing great performances—it’s about the entire evening, from the stunning space to the food and drinks to the electric, shared energy in the room. For me, it’s one of the best spots in the city, and I can’t wait to go back.
