Absolutely cracked it with the Commoners exhibition as part of the Biennial. We were so impressed we bought the brilliant accompany book.
Massively under appreciated with some fabulous exhibitions. Worth every penny of the annual subscription. Both the Herbert and the Transport Museum have two of the best museum gift shops in the country.
The only downside now is the chronic lighting in the History Gallery which needs a complete rethink. Artifacts hidden by signage. Gloomy display cabinets with reflection from the now defunct entrance and reception area.
What happens there once Dippy's gone home? A space with huge potential.
p.s. I still can't work out where the 450yr old School Library is 🤔

STORIES THAT MADE US, is a very powerful, moving and informative exhibtion about the South Asian experience in the UK. Done in such detail that you really feel close to the subject matter. Curated by Hardish Virk who's used a really unique way of exploring his experience of his life that also explores issues everyone can relate to. On entry you get to see the rest of the exhibtions which all vary and add to a brilliant day out.

Visited the Herbert while in Coventry and was pleasantly surprised! Only £4.50 to get in which is a bargain compared to most museums.
Spent about an hour and a half here. There's quite a bit to see – some interesting stuff about Coventry's history, the Blitz, and the whole Lady Godiva story. The art galleries were nice too, didn't expect them to be that good.
Not the biggest museum but definitely worth stopping by if you're in the area. Good way to kill some time and learn a bit about the city without spending much money.
Would recommend if you're visiting Coventry Cathedral – it's just a short walk away and makes for a good combo.
