If you’re looking for a newly renovated, chain-style hotel with no personality, this probably isn’t for you. But if you want to stay somewhere full of charm and character that captures the spirit of the Blackpool of old, then this hotel is perfect.
The building is beautiful and grand, and while it may be a little dated, it is immaculately clean and very comfortable. The service was outstanding — the staff genuinely couldn’t have done more to make our stay enjoyable. Room service was also very reasonably priced, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious.
I can only assume the negative reviews come from guests expecting a Premier Inn–style experience, which this hotel is not trying to be. It’s a historic building, and that’s exactly what makes it special. If you want to feel like you’re truly staying in Blackpool, you’ll love it.
The location is ideal, with a tram stop just outside and Blackpool town centre only a short walk away, making it easy to get around without needing a car.
As with anywhere in Blackpool, there is some noise at night, which is to be expected in such a lively seaside town. It didn’t detract from our stay at all and is simply part of the authentic Blackpool experience. If you’re looking for complete silence, this may not be the place — but if you want atmosphere and character, it comes with the territory.
It’s a wonderfully old-fashioned hotel — the kind I thought no longer existed. Staying here feels like stepping into a classic film from your youth: The Witches, Home Alone, or even something straight out of an Agatha Christie novel. A rare and nostalgic experience.
