This is a wonderful, historical, intimate local theater. They specialize in niche productions, whether on screen or stage. Some of their shows host Church groups, some have a controversial edge. The theater is very old; it was originally built in 1934, and then closed in the 60's. It was lovingly restored and is a local gem. They offer free popcorn, and reasonable admission prices. Check and see when they're next showing something you'd enjoy seeing.

The Strand is the genius child of a couple of classic film lovers with a grand sense of community spirit. The Strand had been closed for decades, but with vision, several years of inspired work, and the generous support of supporters and volunteers, the Strand has risen like the Phoenix from the ashes to become the best reason to be downtown in Vicksburg at night. Classic films, local theatrical performances, filmed operas, and special events including an annual film festival attract a friendly, hip audience. Snacks, soft drinks, and wine in very attractive surroundings all contribute to a most pleasurable–and dare I say–urbane experience.
