This is an interesting local museum to go to and as far as I know there are good things for children to do although I didn't have children with me.
Lots of information about local archaeological digs on the downs. Lovely costumes too view and galleries. I've always enjoyed going in

This is an excellent local museum. There is an archaeological section with info on the geology of the area as well as artefacts. Fashion is the speciality of the museum, with many outfits that are hundreds of years old as well as some modern replicas made from paper. When we visited there was an exhibition of work from "invisible people" that was very moving. Taking the Japanese idea of kintsugi, when items are repaired visibly, so that the broken parts become beautiful, people reflect on their broken lives in works of art. This is a well-curated museum which good exhibitions that interact with the local community.
