Great hospitality from the moment I walked in to check in around 10pm. I was greeted with all smiles, room was very clean. I had a meeting by the state capitol which is walking distance away. The location of hotel is great!!!
Breakfast was light, but they sent me an email before saying that.
Only downside is that there is a train going through Springfield throughout the night and the driver decides to “ honk “ obnoxiously when not a single car is present on the road.
Overall a great experience, great lobby as well.

When we checked in, the first person at the front desk was kind. We asked him if we could have a late check out because we did not need to be to our event until 1 PM. He told us that we could have a checkout at noon. However, at 10:30 we had our first knock on the door from housekeeping and then they started to come in. My husband stopped him and told him that we have a late checkout. At that point, we put the lock on the door so nobody could just come in. I got in the shower to start getting ready. We had a second knock on the door shortly after that. I was able to yell from the shower that we had a late check out. I heard him say that it wasn’t on his list. I had just gotten out of the shower when the door attempted to opened again with no knock. However, since we had put the locks on, they were stopped. We then called the front desk and explained the situation that we had requested a late checkout. The lady we spoke to was a bit rude and said that the front desk person from last night must not have communicated it to anyone else. I feel like that’s not our fault?? And if we had not put the locks on the door by the third time, whoever was coming In most definitely would have seen me completely naked.

Besides this incident, the bathroom reeked of mold. Additionally, the hallway and the dining room were absolutely freezing-I’m talking winter coat required. Breakfast was minimal, the only “hot” food was a waffle maker. Everything needed to be refilled.

Overall very disappointed and angry at this experience. Do better.

My two adult children and myself were in town, and we chose to stay at the State Hoise Inn. We arrived at 7ish and the check in process felt more like an interrogation instead of a check in. We were questioned about where we were from how long would we be staying why we were in town, how many people would be staying in the room, oh yea none of us smoke but as a reminder there is a clean up fee if you smoke. Wow. My daughter asked are they asking us all of those questions because of our color???? Then we had the pleasure of standing in the lobby for 25 min while they attempted to fix the lock on the door to my room. Never offered another room just wait. While waiting we observed other guess come and check in seamlessly without any of the questions that we had to answer. My daughter dad they didn't ask anyone else all off those questions. ??????
