I’ve always loved a good library and it’s a fantastic bonus when the librarians are so friendly and helpful! We managed to set up two library accounts, asked questions, borrowed a couple of switch games and some books all in one visit!

I especially loved that their children’s section has books for children in different languages and not just English! The entire kiddy area is set up in a warm and inviting way.

Pretty old building and yes, at times a bit sketchy. They did hire a security company, though. I can’t help but love this place in all its checkered glory. Huge selection and so many good reads. Some of the staff recommendations are excellent! I love the study booths for privacy. The people who work there seem to be genuinely happy, including the security guard on duty.

I did not enjoy living in Victoria. It was simply not for me. I've moved cities now, and I don't miss much of my time in Victoria, but boy howdy do I miss this library. I'm convinced GVPL is the best library in the province. The staff at the branches are fantastic and kind and knowledgeable, and the digital offerings GVPL has are so, so incredible. They know to order multiple copies of newly released popular audio-books on Libby, and they are shockingly quick at fulfilling purchasing requests and rarely say no. And they have Hoopla?! You don't get that kind of service in my new city.

Writing this review in the middle of the night, thinking fondly of GVPL and regretting not spending more time borrowing and appreciating it while I had it. You don't know what you got 'til it's gone.
