founded in 1555 by Sir Thomas White, a wealthy London merchant tailor.
It was the first Oxford college founded by a merchant, rather than a churchman. The college initially focused on rhetoric, Greek, and dialectic.
Some amazing architecture, definitely worth a visit, free to walk around, we actually got lost in here and a student had to help us to get out.

Visited at John's as part of open house….blow away by this college…huge grounds. Our daughter is young but we've popped this college on our list of if she clever enough. We loved the sheep hunt too. Just a vvvvvv fun college we felt and down to earth. Great cakes too although it's not on the main site.
