A Legacy of Vineyards and Passionate Owners: Tom Heineman’s dream of owning land came to life in 1981 when he and his wife, Pat, purchased 12 acres in Livermore with the vision of growing grapes for local wineries. After honing their craft through viticulture classes at UC Davis, the Heinemans planted Bent Creek Vineyard, which soon became a trusted source of grapes for other Livermore wineries. The natural progression from vineyard to winery unfolded in 2002, when they partnered with Rich and Carol Howell, who shared their vision and passion. Together, the four founders studied enology at UC Davis and began producing wine from the very grapes they cultivated—leading to the opening of Bent Creek Winery.
