Great Rad place – even if you're not a "hipster." EVERYONE treats me just fine. The staff is probably the friendliest in town, period. Musical acts are always just a little better than I expect them to be. Food is Really Good (i recommend the black bean nachos with chicken). Beer selection is good, they do have a few microbrews on tap. They have Security there on the weekends typically, but it's never necessary as it's a calm and friendly bunch. Cool art all over the place. Prices are very reasonable. Covers range from 10 to 15 for great shows, and 7 or so for "Ok" shows. Stage is viewable all the way from the back now (even have TV's so you can see in case you MUST see it up close). Shows typically start about 30 minutes late, which is typical. Compared to other places in B'ham, it's our favorite to spend a Friday or Saturday night and just chill. About the crowd: The crowd is typically younger (20's maybe 30's) with a few of us older people lagging around. Definitely a few hipsters in there, but certainly not overwhelming by any means. Nobody ever treats me any differently than anyone else, people are typically really nice and just want to have a good time. You'll see a few EPIC beards too.

Bottletree is a fantastic place to see a live show, get a drink or a meal, or hang out with friends. The atmosphere is fantastic, with wonderfully weird and quirky collections over every space, from record album covers in the bathrooms to a sequin-covered deer head on the wall to lines of tchotchkes on the windowsills.
It's clear that a lot of love and work goes into making Bottletree the creative and welcoming space that it is, and that pays off in everything from the space itself to the staff to the menu (that includes seriously great options for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans) to the musicians. Reportedly, Bottletree treats their musicians extremely well, and that's created a loyalty in a lot of acts that might not otherwise visit Birmingham.
If you appreciate music, good food, good local beer and a little bit of kitsch, you'll love Bottletree. I know I do.

A great little restaurant with a vegetarian slant. They book innovate musical acts and often show art films. On the downside the crowd slants toward hipster and they can often be very pretentious at times, as evidenced by the shushing of patrons who are enjoying themselves at normal volumes at times.
