We absolutely loved our stay at the Coast Bastion! Every staff member we encountered was friendly and welcoming. Location was amazing, along with the view. Plenty of nice restaurants and cafes nearby. We were celebrating our anniversary so they had a plate of Nanaimo bars waiting in the room for us, such a nice gesture! Highly recommend this place.

After taking Hullo ferry I simply got on the courtesy shuttle. Got dropped off 1 1/2blocks frm hotel.
Had issue with credit card, and front desk was extremely respectful, kind, and friendly. Plus, nxt morning at check out i left a brand new sweatshirt in my room. The hotel maid took her time and brought it to my. Everyone I encountered was gracious and honest. Not many folk with those attributes around anymore. Thank you
Thank you
Thank you, restoring my faith in human nature.

Coast Bastion is our go-to hotel whenever we visit our grandparents in Nanaimo. Having stayed here before the renovation, I can confidently say the updates have made the experience much more comfortable and enjoyable. The rooms are very clean, and the beds are incredibly comfortable. The design has also changed, it became more modern.
I’ve stayed here countless times, but this was our first stay with the newborns, and room 802 is by far our favorite room.
We stayed in room 802 over the Christmas break with our two newborns. The layout was great, with a secluded desk area near the entrance that was perfect for parking our double stroller, along with storing a million other baby things. This helped, because it ensured our main activity area was not crowded with things. The room offered excellent views of both the Front Street and Bastion Street. The sheets were smooth and comfortable (I want to guess they are sateen weave, please confirm if possible) which was ideal for a warm sleeper like me, while the duvet still provided a cozy feel and just the right amount of warmth. There were 4 types of pillows available to choose from, ranging from soft to firm, allowing you to choose based on your preference and your mood of the day. Even our newborns seemed to love the bed because they slept longer during our stay.
I appreciate the housekeeping staff for keeping our room clean during our stay, especially with all the poopy diapers from our newborns.
