Amazing hotel at a private island. Great service, the sandy beaches and the jungle are at the doorstep. Breakfast and dinner are included. There are also free Sun beds and various games and activities. The marine life nearby is amazing to see – corals, turtles and various fish. The island is home to many big lizards and birds which was fun to see. The gym could be improved.

Just sharing my experience for future vacationers! So the staff are all very lovely and soso accommodating. We were picked up with a personal van but obviously the round trip from the airport was of course included in our package which we chose, so this might be something to consider when booking. But the moment we stepped foot onto the island we were given complimentary drinks and a little video to understand the island a bit better, which helped us get around a lot easier. They have private carts to take you around the island and the rooms are really lovely. Our room was the ocean view room I think and I requested the rooms be next to each other and that they be on the ground floor, which was done as requested. The food can be a bit pricey but this is what was expected as it is a private island. But I would say the website is a little outdated and I was a bit dubious myself but once you get to the island the pictures honestly do not do it justice. Special thanks to Kuya Chris and romwell for constantly chatting to us and helping us around the island. Again we really enjoyed the live band at the Sinag the most and the kayaks and surfboards which you can use anytime. But the highlight is the staff and the beach front for us. Definitely recommend for people who want a break from the city life and just want to unwind!

Okay, if you trust any reviews let it be this one. Discovery Coron blew us out of the water. I am someone who scours through reviews, cross checks every detail, triple checks things and still feels nervous before arriving anywhere. This stay was beyond anything I imagined.

Before arriving I read a few negative reviews online which honestly shocked me once I got there. Some people said the service wasn’t where it should be, that things were worn, that the restaurant was overpriced. I can’t express enough how different our actual experience was.

Firstly, this is a private island. They have around 200 staff living on site. It is extremely remote. The amount of resources required to bring fresh food to a place like this is huge. The fact that they have such fresh produce and incredible dishes available every single day is amazing.

Secondly, if something is slightly worn, it makes sense. The resort is exposed to the elements, salt water, humidity and nature all day every day. But honestly I didn’t notice anything worn. Everything felt beautiful, natural and authentic to the island.

My favourite thing about Discovery Coron was the staff. Just wow. Every single person was so kind that my husband and I kept looking at each other in disbelief. On every walk to and from our room, every staff member put their hand on their heart, stopped what they were doing and greeted us with a huge smile. At first I thought all Filipinos must greet this way, but after travelling for two weeks I can confidently say this is something they are trained to do here. It warmed my heart every single time.

The food was incredible. Breakfast was amazing and Sinag, their Filipino restaurant, was one of our favourite meals from our entire Philippines trip. Yes, food is pricier here but it is a private island. You are paying for quality and access. I am a very picky eater with a very specific diet and the restaurant made custom meals for me without fuss. Everything was delicious. The Boodle Fight at Sinag was a highlight.

I had a massage at the Glow Spa and it was one of the best massages I’ve ever had.

Room service was perfect every single day. The staff even bring free treats around the beach during the day, and every afternoon we found a new treat waiting in our room. Such special touches that make such a difference.

We didn’t go on any tours because we genuinely felt no need to leave the island. The snorkeling right off the beach was the best we had in the entire Philippines. On our second day I asked the concierge which tour would be best to see turtles and he said “right here mam”. I nearly cried. One of their staff members offered to take us out immediately, free of charge. Within minutes we saw two turtles, Nemo, and stingrays. The next day we went out ourselves and found a huge turtle again. It was magical.

Everything about this island was unforgettable. The staff, the service, the natural beach, the pool, the greenery, the bats at sunset, the hike, everything.

If you want a holiday where you can truly relax, switch off and be taken care of, this is the place. We will be talking about Discovery Coron forever
