We stopped in at the Elmhurst this past Tuesday for dinner after hearing so many good things about the food. Upon our arrival we were promptly seated and immediately asked if we'd like a cocktail. Our servers Brenda and Peter were attentive to our needs all evening. The dining room was beautiful, providing those who eat here a glimpse into the past with its original architecture dating back to the 1800s.
All three in our party ordered the prime rib special which we found to be a very good deal. They started us off with the caeser salad which we scored a 10/10. Super fresh romaine, freshly cooked oversized bacon bits, homemade croutons ( I asked ) and thin slices of high quality Parmesan cheese. Each of our portions filled a large bowl and left us full, as we did our best to finish it off
Next came the prime rib with a side of au jus and Yorkshire pudding which was definitely the hit of the show. I was told by the Chef that they use locally sourced, hand selected AAA/PRIME grade beef and you could tell. Perfectly cooked to medium rare as requested and more than a generous sized portion as was the potato and vegetable dish that accompanied it. The prime rib was so moist and tender that like the saying goes you could "cut it with a butter knife".
We finished our dinner off with one of their homemade deserts which I was told they were famous for. I had the tiramisu which was probably the best that I have ever had and my wife and son each had the caramel cheesecake which they both scored as exceptional! We finished off our dinner with an after dinner drink and a personal visit by Chef Philipe to our table following up on how our meal was….a nice personal touch.
Overall our dining experience was a 10/10 and we've already made plans to rebook in a couple of weeks. I highly recommend making a reservation here to anyone looking for that special dining experience

I had an excellent solo getaway for two nights in January. I booked the fireplace room, a reservation at their on-site restaurant, as well as two spa services. Nearly everything was excellent.
I was hoping for a more traditional fireplace (crackling wood or real heat contribution), but the fireplace was gas and didn't turn up very high. I'd probably book the jacuzzi room next time. The windows and ambiance were great. The spa was upscale and delightful — I got the best facial of my life there. My first night at the restaurant unfortunately wasn't ideal, but Chef and staff more than made up for it the night after with sincere apologies. All in all a very nice, relaxing getaway and I'd do it again!

Beautiful location in a wooded area just off the 401 (half an hour east of London). Historic mansion and estate, with a well-integrated extension for comfortable rooms. Service was excellent. Dinner was expensive but high quality. Local beers on tap. My beef tenderloin was cooked to perfection, and our server was pleasant, attentive, and hospitable. We stayed in the Lord Connaught room. Wall of windows looking out on the forest and creek valley, with private patio. For a three-star inn, we found that our stay at Elm Hurst to be a top notch experience.
