My family has been using Gulf Gate Library for many years, and we truly love this place. My children borrow books here, join programs, and I personally rely on the library as a quiet space to study . It has been an important part of our daily life in Sarasota.

As more families, students, and lifelong learners use the library as a place to study and work, I feel the seating and space layout could benefit from a few small adjustments to better support this positive change.

During weekday mornings and early afternoons, the teen area is often mostly unoccupied, yet it contains the largest concentration of study tables in the entire library. Outside of this area, there are only a few study rooms (limited to two hours) and a small number of scattered tables, which can make it challenging for adult patrons to find a comfortable place to study.

One possible improvement could be clearer time-based or seating guidelines, such as allowing some tables in the teen area to be shared by adult users during low-traffic hours.

I also think adding more practical furniture—like long shared tables with clearly defined individual seating or chairs that naturally divide spaces—could help improve fairness and make the space more welcoming for everyone.

Absolutely amazing all around. The ability to come here and rent out books is such a blessing. They have a beautuful facility that brings many young as well as older people to get together and embrace in the art of reading.
The facility is always clean and the customer service always exceptional. I love this library.

Quite a lovely library. We went there for the very first time yesterday and were pleased with the decor and friendly vibes. Not much of an outdoor setting like the library in Venice, but that's not a big deal to us. The main problem was the TEEN section. That section was completely overtaken by adults. The booths that they have there were all used by adults, one man had his feet on the seat, completely looking like he was at home with all of his "stuff" covering the table, my teen daughter was unable to sit anywhere because of the adults. There wasn't a librarian in site and so we went downstairs. Nowhere for her to sit. The libraries that we use (PBC) have signs that clearly state the TEEN section is only for teens and adults will be asked to leave if found in there (Hagen Ranch Library for example). Because this library lacks a proper TEEN section, and it does not have enough seats for the rest of the patrons, we will not be using this library as often as the other ones we have found. It is a shame because it is a pretty library.
