I recently took my grandson, who is 1 year and 10 months old, to the Mid-Hudson Discovery Center in Poughkeepsie, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and filled with excitement.

The Center is perfectly designed for children to explore, play, and learn in the most fun and interactive ways. My grandson had an absolute blast! Every corner had something engaging for little ones, from hands-on exhibits to spaces that encouraged curiosity, creativity, and discovery. What I loved most was how safe and well-thought-out the environment was—kids can be kids, explore freely, and parents and grandparents can relax knowing it’s built just for them.

The staff were friendly, attentive, and you could tell they truly care about creating a positive experience for families. It was such a joy to see my grandson’s eyes light up as he moved from one activity to the next—his laughter and excitement said it all.

This is truly a gem in Poughkeepsie, and I would highly recommend it to any family looking for a fun, educational, and memorable outing with their children. We will definitely be back!

Awesome little kids museum. First floor has imagination areas, like a fire fighters area, kitchen, grocery store, etc. Upstairs is the science area which appeals to slightly older kids. Magnetic exhibits, physics, sound, light, etc. There was something for both my 4.5 year old and my 8 year old. Assume you’ll spend about 2 – 2.5hrs there.

Great small museum for kids! My first visit was in early 2016 with my older son. My recent visit was with my husband and younger son.

The museum has only two floors. The first floor is ideal for toddlers, while the second floor offers kinetic activities and more, suitable for kids of all ages.

My younger son had a blast, spending over two hours and refusing to leave! Even my husband and I enjoyed some of the activities.

Admission is $15 per person.
