What a gem of a dining experience

We wandered in for lunch by chance, and the meal was so delicious that we returned for dinner the same day.
The culinary team behind it, Ronald and Jonathan, are incredibly talented, creative, and friendly.
The overall experience was exceptional—from the superb customer service to the mouthwatering dishes.
Francis our wonderful waiter, welcomed us with a glass of champagne and enthusiastically shared his recommendations. His guidance genuinely elevated the evening beyond all expectations.

We celebrated my father’s birthday at Mikasa in Puerto Plata with my parents and grandfather, and it was truly exceptional. This is easily one of the best sushi and fine dining experiences in Puerto Plata.

From the warm welcome at the door to the complimentary champagne once seated, the hospitality immediately stood out. The owners were incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home.

Franco was an amazing server who walked us through every dish with care and knowledge, and his assistant, a lovely young lady, was super attentive throughout the evening. The service made the entire birthday dinner feel special.

Every dish was beautifully plated and packed with flavor. For cocktails, I highly recommend the Bushido Passion Fruit and the Gaman Aka Sour. The Aomori Rice Fusion Peruana was unbelievably delicious and full of flavor. The Tuna Savage melts in your mouth like butter and is perfect if you are looking for a traditional sushi roll. The Novus Guro Roll is a delicious tempura roll. Make sure to ask for a side of their ginger because it complements every dish perfectly. For dessert, the ginger ice cream paired with the yuzu mochi was the perfect ending.

I have had sushi around the world, including Japan, and this is easily in my top three sushi experiences. If you are looking for excellent sushi, craft cocktails, and fine dining in Puerto Plata, Mikasa is a must visit. I only wish I had more time in Puerto Plata to work my way through the entire menu, but I will definitely be back.
