A large modern building set in the wharf and close to town centre. Parking, at the time of writing, is £1.70 for an hour although it is better to park for free in Sainsburys and walk. It is clean, tidy and well organised mostly – sometimes books are in storage and you waste time looking for them before asking staff. Staff however are very helpful. There is plenty of seating and computers to use. No complaints, a good place to go

Newbury is lucky to have a public library this gorgeous! A modern building, but sensitively designed with its wharf surroundings in mind.
Fiction, children’s area, accessible toilet, photocopier, and main information desk downstairs; non-fiction, local history, community room, quiet working spaces, a further toilet, and IT facilities upstairs. Upper storey accessible by lift.
Friendly staff (professional and volunteers) on hand to help if needed.
I particularly like the upper level, with vaulted ceilings and pleasant views over the canal and Victoria Park.

'Man in Charge" was a lovely bloke, knowledgeable and funny. My only complaint would relate to the people utilising it we're somewhat delinquent in their personal hygiene. Particularly in this hot weather. A whole lot of people need to acquaint themselves with soap, water and antiperspirant. The place absolutely reeked of unwashed sweaty bodies from the moment I walked in all the way to the back shelves.
