Dropped in with my toddler to cure a bout of cabin fever on a Friday, it was definitely worth it. Although one room (a short exhibit), it's enough to kill time or drop in if you're in the not-yet gentrifyied neighborhood. I wouldn't recommend making a day trip out of this museum until renovations are finished.
Rumor has it, that the renovations have been in process for 2 years and may be completed this year– who knows. However, the current exhibit leaves me intrigued for what's to come! There is also a miniature display of what the museum will look like once completed. I will definitely visit again once renovations are complete.
Paid parking on 165th street across the museum, however if you're ambitious enough and the parking Gods are kind– you can definitely find street parking. No automatic doors for stroller to enter as it seems as if the current space is temporary in lieu of main building renovations. There are definitely ramps and I've spotted an elevator.
Of course it's a museum, you or your spawn shouldn't touch anything. Good lesson to teach our little ones to use our eyes to experience! 🙂

We went in the afternoon of the past President's Day. Free admission. There were about 10 people with us included. Only a small section was open due to renovation but the pieces on exhibition are thought provoking. I was told by the front desk that the museum was expected to be fully reopen by the end of this summer. I look forward to going back to see it in full scale!

The Bronx Museum is a fantastic and completely free museum that really captures the energy and creativity of the borough! Got in quickly on a weekday and loved the bold, contemporary exhibitions. The art feels alive and relevant — rooted in the communities and cultures that make the Bronx so vibrant. A must-visit that deserves way more attention!
