If you're looking for a Sunday roast that hits all the right notes, look no further than the Anchor & Crown. We came in expecting a decent pub lunch, we left genuinely impressed and fully satisfied. The roast beef was the star of the show: tender, beautifully cooked and sliced generously. The roast potatoes were perfectly done: crunchy on the outside, fluffy inside and seasoned just right. The accompanying mash was smooth and creamy, and the seasonal veg still had bite. There was not a soggy carrot in sight. Everything was brought together with a rich, savory gravy. Portion size? Generous. Price? Incredibly fair for the quality. Service was friendly and efficient, with food arriving promptly even during the Sunday rush. Friendly service all around, especially from Ben the bartender. The atmosphere is relaxed, with televisions showing soccer for sports fans. The potato and leek soup served with a warm baguette was delicious. Highly recommend this place!

Excellent food. Delicious roast lamb. Generous portions, lovely accompaniments. Reasonably priced. Good service. Had to wait 45 minutes for the food but the starter came before. Lovely spot in the sun. Overall, a great visit. Recommended.
