Beautiful architecture! Although it’s currently under construction and temporarily closed, it’s definitely worth seeing from the outside. I would have loved to go inside, but even from the exterior, it’s striking and unique. A standout piece of architecture right in the heart of Albany.

    The Egg – Albany, NY

The Egg is one of Albany’s most iconic and architecturally unique landmarks. Perched above the Empire State Plaza, its futuristic, curved concrete design immediately grabs your attention. It’s not just a visual marvel—it’s a cultural centerpiece that hosts an impressive variety of performances year-round.

Inside, The Egg contains two theaters: the Lewis A. Swyer Theatre and the Kitty Carlisle Hart Theatre. Both spaces offer excellent acoustics and an intimate atmosphere, allowing audiences to feel close to the performance no matter where they sit. Whether it’s modern dance, jazz, stand-up comedy, or indie theater, the programming is thoughtfully curated and appeals to a wide range of tastes.

The staff are courteous and helpful, and the venue is well-maintained and clean. Parking at the Empire State Plaza can be a bit tricky during larger events, but once you’re inside, the experience is smooth and enjoyable.

    Pros:
    • Stunning and unique architecture
    • Great acoustics and intimate seating
    • Diverse lineup of high-quality performances
    • Convenient location in downtown Albany

    Final Thoughts:
If you’re visiting Albany or live nearby, The Egg is a must-see—not just for its performances, but for its bold design and contribution to the city’s cultural identity. It’s a small venue

An absolute must see if you’re in the Albany area! Beautiful views and surrounded by fountains that run during the day. At night it lights up and a lot of times coordinates with holidays and awareness months. Spectacular spot to eat and even just relax. Definitely don’t miss out on it if in the Albany area
