The architecture and styling details of The Line were so neat! I stayed there while visiting a friend who lives nearby, and she says she sometimes goes to their cafe even as a local. The yoga and happy hour offerings were very tempting. And the brunch was delicious. Also, all the front desk concierges were very helpful to me, especially Derrick.

PRO: love the overall vibe and the lobby is great to hang out/work (dogs allowed FYI if you are allergic). Rooms surprisingly quiet (except for when the doors shut – why can't all hotels use better 'soft' closers!), nice decor/design.

CON: seems understaffed? Had to wait a bit at front desk, and some rooms could use a refresh (new curtains, paint). Shower adjustment is tricky to keep temperature.

This was a family meet cum holiday trip booked by my son for us to Washington DC using his Chase Luxury Travel service and it was an enjoyable visit and a trip down memory lane as it was over two decades since we came here last time! The room was nice with a quaint old world charm and the breakfast was nicely plated and served at the table.
Having said that a lot of things were just not to the standard we expected from a 5-star luxury hotel where guests could enjoy a break. As an example there were no bedroom slippers and after repeated enquiries we were told they had run out of them!! Then we had a leaking shower door in our bathroom and the hospitality crew never cleaned up the trash bins on their daily visits. The rooms clearly need to be upgraded. See the image I have included here where one of the closets roofs has broken and a plank was dangerously positioned that was not fixed by theiraintenance staff.
And worse while. checking out we had a really rude on 09 Oct afternoon, we had a really gentleman who refused to listen to us and despite our requests to speak to the Manager he kept avoiding us. Finally we had the get the Chase Travel team to speak with them to resolve the issues. I just felt the person at the check out had a racial bias and was unwilling to listen to me or my wife. We almost missed our flights back to San Francisco. I do hope that the senior management at The Line look into this person's behaviour and have someone who is more respectful of customers focus on managing their front desk.
