This was my first time staying at this hotel. I booked a one-night stay in a room with two queen beds through the Chase Sapphire Reserve Luxury Hotel Collection. The reservation included several valuable perks, such as food and beverage credits, complimentary breakfast, a room upgrade, and late check-out. I especially liked 4pm check out.
I was upgraded to a corner room with a beautiful view, and the room itself was spacious and well-appointed. The check-in process was quick and seamless. The location is excellent—within walking distance of nearly everything in downtown Portland.
If I return to Portland, I would definitely choose to stay here again.

The only reason this hotel is worthy of a five star rating, is because of the extraordinary performance of Sheryl, the concierge. Sheryl went out of her way to assist us and make our stay memorable. Thank you Sheryl!

The Nines is a well located hotel in the heart of downtown Portland. Unfortunately I’d say that it doesn’t really feel like a 5 star hotel; I’d say it reminds me more of a 4-star Westin over 5 star luxury, but it was still a nice stay.
We also were rudely awoken by a (false alarm) fire alarm on one of our two nights, which admittedly significantly dampened the visit although I recognize there’s little the hotel can do to control that.
I’d recommend staying here if the price is right.
