We attended a tech conference in Washington, D.C., and stayed at this centrally located hotel. It’s just two blocks from the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and a few blocks from a bustling shopping district. There are also many great restaurants within walking distance.

The rooms are comfortable and well-appointed, with a nice bed, daily housekeeping, a coffee maker, a small fridge, an iron, and a safe. Valet parking is available, and we never had to wait more than a few minutes for a ride from Uber or Lyft.

The staff is fantastic! The concierge was able to help arrange transportation for a guest attending our event.

The onsite restaurant, Root and Vine, was excellent, offering a variety of vegetarian options. There’s also room service available from the restaurant.

There’s a Starbucks next to the front desk, so you can grab a coffee or a snack before heading out.

Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Washington, D.C.

Rooms overall were nice Air conditioner was set to 61 and it was still 76 in the room. It took several hours to get cool. It also appeared to only get cooler in the evening. Also while I was there the fire alarm went off around 1am but you could barely hear anything. Only way I was to confirm that it actually went off was my team of colleagues had talked about it in a group chat. $35 destination fee is little ridiculous when they don't have anything to offer other than the gym. Which is nice but not worth the $35. They also give you a $20 a day food credit but that requires you to eat at the hotel daily. And the credit doesn't stack. Last but not least if parking a car expect to pay a lot. Use a ride share service.

I stayed at The Westin DC Downtown and overall it’s a really nice hotel. Super clean, modern, and comfortable. I also liked that they offered free bottled water in the room, which was a thoughtful touch especially with the summer heat.

The part that threw me off was all the extra fees. There’s a destination charge of about $35 plus tax, and then parking was $48 for one night. It adds up fast and makes the total cost of the stay a lot higher than what you first expect when booking. Honestly, I don’t even know what the destination fee is for. I really think hotels should just be upfront with pricing. If it costs more to stay there, just show the real price per night. Include the parking too or at least make it very clear what isn’t included.

It’s a great hotel, but I’d really like to see more transparency in the way the final price is shown. That would make the whole experience feel a lot more fair.
