Enjoyed the weekend stay. Nice and quite and within walking distance to a ton of shops. The breakfast was hot and coffee was fresh. The rooms are cozy and clean and we enjoyed sitting out on the private balcony of our room in the morning and late evening. A great little gem between Austin and Waco. We plan on staying again the next time we visit the area.

Beautiful historic property with second story accomodations over a deliciously scented leather and candle shop and a wine shop. The staff was very kind to let us use the kitchen and dining area downstairs and the shared patio upstairs as the other room was vacant. Lovely porch swing in the yard and nice bench on shared common porch to enjoy a glass of wine. While we made use of the space with kids, it is an older property and is quirky. There are a few squeaks and other small quirks that may not make it a great kid space. The guest rooms are up a narrow staircase and there is not an elevator. Lovely stay, just a little rustic.

Salado was a quaint and charming town! My best friend and I stayed one night at the Baylor Cottage (part of the Salado Inn) and loved how walkable it was to shops and restaurants. We crossed the creek, and enjoyed the view and service at the restaurant where we had dinner — Alexander’s Craft Cocktails and Kitchen.
Unfortunately, this will be our first and last stay at the Baylor Cottage. Upon arriving at the cottage, we found a used bath towel from the previous guest left hanging in the bathroom, hair in sinks and on other surfaces, and black flecks on the comforter as well as in both bathtubs. The Wifi network we were provided was not accessible, and the bed was uncomfortable (other Airbnb reviews mentioned this). There was not enough hot water for the jacuzzi tub (again, another Airbnb review mentioned this.) We heard loud bass and the sound of several car engines as we were heading to bed. This continued into quiet hours. We messaged our host who communicated with us, but there was not anything they could do. We also were awakened by persons around the cottage with bright lights and talking. I’m not sure if they were looking for something? Regardless, all of the above postponed our sleep. I am so thankful we only stayed one night.
