Amazing art museum in New Haven, CT. Beautiful old building melded with a modern addition. 4+ floors of art, from ancient artifacts and sculptures to modern and contemporary pieces. And it's free to enter! Everyone working there were pleasant and informative.

A true gem in the heart of New Haven. The Yale University Art Gallery offers an impressive collection that feels both world-class and deeply accessible. The range is astounding—European masters, ancient artifacts, African art, modern American works—all beautifully curated. The architecture itself is worth the visit, blending historic charm with clean, contemporary lines that let the art breathe.
What makes it even more remarkable? Admission is free. You can wander for hours without feeling rushed, discovering both iconic pieces and lesser-known works that surprise you. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between scholarly and welcoming, making it a joy whether you’re an art historian or just casually exploring.

Amazing, amazing museum. I was totally in awe with the extensive collection particularly of modern art and Asian art. It speaks volumes of Yale’s education that showing students the original works of art was important. I was also impressed that many of the alumni donated their famous paintings rather than selling them at auction, a testament to the intellect of Yale alumni. Finally, the art work is so beautifully, impeccably displayed – hats off to the curators. This is the crown jewel of the University!!! A must visit for art lovers
