We only knew that the campus area needed more shade trees and a more organized parking area for motorcycles and cars around the gate. Other than that, we found the security guards friendly and the students cheerful and enthusiastic, especially when we told them that we were not just two lecturers but also husband and wife. We laughed together and took photos.

In my short time studying at UNP I can say that it is not good for other students that would like to transfer at the university especially for the ones that is not Ilocano… The students and teachers are not approachable, they are always prioritizing events more than important things like teaching acads… As a pure Tagalog student I had a hard time listening to the discussions of my profs because I don't know a single thing that they are saying (they are all aware of that they have a "tagalog student"). And the buildings, their buildings are not safe for earthquakes. The uniforms, you have to wait until a month before you got one.

I used to study at UNP–Vigan from my 1st year up to my 3rd year, where I took Secondary Education major in English. I left that university because I was repeatedly reported by a strict professor. I did not know whether I was being discriminated against, but she was always angry with me. Whenever I tried to talk to her, she always had a frowning face.
I wondered why my grades were failing when I knew that my quarterly exam scores were high and my attendance was complete—I never even tried to be absent for a single day. I was kicked out because I failed several subjects handled by the same professor. Because of this, I felt extreme pressure and became deeply depressed.
What I went through was very difficult because I worked hard in my studies and spent a lot of money on school expenses, tuition, and an expensive dormitory in Vigan. I also lost my scholarship because of this, which I truly regret.
I then decided to transfer to MMSU–Laoag Campus because the staff and professors there were better and more respectful than those I previously had. By God’s grace, I graduated and passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers (Secondary Education) in 2014. I am now a teacher at a public high school in Ilocos Sur (I will not mention the specific place where I am teaching).
