Vietnamese cafe with excellent breakfast plates and croissants.

I don’t usually drive this far for breakfast, but my friend insisted I try their breakfast menu. The savory menu was literally two items, but they were batting a thousand. Both are labeled “banh mi,” though they’re really deconstructed versions. Sizzling plates/bowl served with a baguette on the side. And honestly, both were better than any Vietnamese dishes I’ve had around Boston.

The pork bowl was a classic combo. Pork pâté, sausage, braised pork, and pickled veggies, but each element was executed perfectly (especially the braised pork belly). The black pepper pan used flat iron steak, which was solid, but the black pepper paste was so good that I’d dip a shoe in it. Their baguette had a plush inside with a shattering crunch outside, so it was the perfect vessel to mop up those juices.

Coffee and pastries were also good, though more on par with what you’d expect from a trendy café these days. The savory plates, though, are worth every mile on the odometer, and I’d come back soon just for those.

VANG Vietnamese Coffee Bar is such a great find. I got the regular Vietnamese iced coffee and it was so good — strong, rich, and perfectly smooth without being overly sweet.

They’re definitely more drink-focused with a very limited food menu, but if you’re coming for coffee, they absolutely deliver. The space itself is huge and beautifully set up, making it a great spot to get some work done or catch up with a friend without feeling rushed.

I recently moved to the area and I’m really happy to have found this spot — I’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend if you love a bold Vietnamese iced coffee and a comfortable place to hang out.

I live in Boston and chose this spot to meet a friend from Plymouth, thinking it would be a nice halfway point. Only upon stepping inside did I realize it was a Vietnamese coffee shop. My little instinct immediately told me the coffee might be strong or sweet. Since I’ve been cutting down on sugar and strong coffee tends to make me shaky, I mentioned my concern to the barista who helped me. She kindly offered to make a custom coffee just for me.

I expected something simple, just a regular coffee like you’d get anywhere else, but one sip completely surprised me. I had to go back and tell her how good it was. The beans were clearly something special—smooth, rich, and full of character.

That visit was about a week ago, and today, as I was driving around craving a good coffee, my mind started searching for that taste memory. I thought, where was it, where was it? And then it clicked—Vang Coffee.

    Time for a revisit.
