The campus looks quite nice, but if you're disabled or have any learning disorders, don't bother attending.

They put me in unsuitable accommodation, and when requested to move to a place thats ground floor or with a lift, I was told they would – but they never did.
Months went by and my flatmate was helping me up the stairs. They eventually moved out, and when they did, I was left without any help and I moved out too.
They have since harassed me for the debt, despite the complaint.
They admitted complete fault but still insisted I pay for a property I couldn't access most days.
When i requested a dorm I told them I was disabled and can't get up the stairs. They didn't listen, I requested to change, they didn't listen.
My learner adjustment plan even says that I require ground floor access or lift access, yet neither my dorm or class room was ground floor, and neither of them had a lift either.
They made a proposal to reduce the debt a little bit, which is just an insult.
I made a counter offer to pay up to the date I raised an official request to change accommodation at my appointment with the disability team (as I was told to do by the accommodation team), and they have since ignored me proposal, and my follow up emails.

I was also at times hung up on, and spoken to like trash by Simon from the accommodation team.

I will be completing my first year and then changing to a university that considers the equality act of 2010.

I had a very disappointing experience at York St John University. In my first year, I was involved in an academic misconduct issue related to only one module. I felt that my perspective as a student was not fully considered during the process. Despite this being a single module in my first year, the decision resulted in withdrawal from the course, and no alternative options, such as repeat module or repeating the year, were offered.

What was particularly concerning was the apparent inconsistency in how rules were applied. Some students in the same academic year were allowed to repeat the year and continue their studies, while many others, including myself, were not given any such options. This raised serious concerns about fairness and equal treatment.

I also observed situations where students involved in misconduct cases appeared to receive different outcomes under similar circumstances. This lack of transparency and consistency made the process feel unfair and difficult to trust.

In addition, student support services were extremely unhelpful. I visited the Student Hub four to five times but did not receive clear guidance or meaningful responses. There was no visible dedicated support for international students, and communication from the visa department was very poor, with emails and queries going unanswered.

Furthermore, results were released very late, and after this delay, I was informed that I would need to complete all procedures again from my home country, with no flexibility or alternatives provided. This added significant stress and uncertainty during an already challenging period.

Overall, the experience felt unsupportive, inconsistent, and disproportionate. I expected a more transparent, fair, and student-focused approach, particularly for first-year and international students. I will never recommend this university to anyone.

Worst four years of my life. Save yourself the trouble. You’re simply a statistic to them. For a school that prides itself on its “inclusion”, they don’t care about working class/lower class students whatsoever.
My personal tutor would speak to me as if I was stupid. It was humiliating and has been detrimental to my mental health.
