The National Shrine of Our Lady of the Abandoned in Sta. Ana, Manila is truly a safe refuge for those burdened by misery, troubles, and life’s deepest struggles. From the moment you enter the shrine, you feel a profound sense of peace, consolation, and hope that gently lifts the soul.

This sacred place reminds the faithful that no one is ever truly abandoned. Mary, Mother of God, stands as our loving Mother and powerful intercessor, always ready to bring our prayers to her Son. Many devotees come here seeking comfort, strength, and guidance, and they leave renewed in faith and trust in God’s mercy.

The holy image of Mama Mary – Our Lady of the Abandoned of Sta. Ana, Manila holds a special place in the hearts of the faithful. Her image was canonically crowned during the pontificate of Pope Saint John Paul II, a testament to the deep devotion and spiritual significance of this shrine.

Whether you come to pray, seek refuge, or simply find quiet reflection, this shrine is a sacred sanctuary where faith is strengthened and hearts are embraced by a Mother’s love. A truly blessed and grace-filled place for all who enter.

This shrine is rich in artistry, both in its interior and exterior design. During my visit, some areas were undergoing reconstruction, but it didn’t take away from the church’s historical charm. The facade especially caught my attention, with moss and small plants starting to grow, adding to its aged, almost sacred feel. Inside, it’s serene and solemn, with elements that speak of deep-rooted faith and long-standing tradition. Even with the renovations, you can still sense the quiet dignity and historical weight the shrine holds.

Very beautiful centuries old church located in the heart of Sta. Ana. The preserved retablo is always a sight to behold. When you go up the camarin, one will be transported back to the time because of the well preserved ceiling and where one can always find inner peace while praying. My favourite church. I got married in this church years ago. From the first time i entered this church in 1979 I made a promise to Our Lady that I'll get married here which i did in 1983. And from then on every first Saturday i always come and visit.
