A ₱120,000 budget for a 100-guest event in Metro Manila works out to ₱1,200 per head. That’s a reasonable number for a casual function room booking — but it’s not what a full-service hotel banquet room actually costs. We sent this exact request to 9 Manila hotels this month. Here’s what came back, in real pesos.

The ask

A planner came to VenueKonnex wanting a venue for a 100-guest event on May 21, 2027, working budget ₱120,000. She named a preferred venue and asked us to shop it alongside comparable options so she could see real numbers before committing. We contacted 9 Metro Manila hotels and function-room venues on her behalf.

What actually came back

Tropicana Suites declined outright — their function room caps at 60 people, no way to stretch to 100.

The Manila Hotel was already fully booked for the date, more than nine months out. First-choice hotels in Metro Manila get locked up early; that’s worth knowing if you’re planning a 2027 date in 2026.

Waterfront Manila Hotel & Casino sent a generic “forwarded to the concerned department” acknowledgment and never followed up with a number.

Manila Prince Hotel asked whether ₱120,000 was fixed or flexible before quoting — a fair question, since the number was already below their typical package range. They eventually sent a full proposal, but flagged that no room currently holds a pencil date for the inquiry, so pricing is contingent on availability closer to the date.

Hotel H2O at Manila Ocean Park sent the most complete rate sheet of the batch: ₱2,500 per person + VAT for a half-day booking (minimum 30 guests), or ₱3,500 per person + VAT for a full day. Both tiers include the function room for 4 or 8 hours, a basic sound system, two microphones, an LCD projector, and a managed buffet lunch. Run the math on 100 guests and the half-day rate lands at roughly ₱280,000 with VAT. The full-day package runs about ₱392,000. Either one is more than double the ₱120,000 budget — and this was one of the more organized, fastest-responding venues in the batch.

Rizal Park Hotel, the planner’s original pick, confirmed by phone that May 21, 2027 is open and that their ballroom comfortably fits 180–200 guests round-table — nearly double what this event needs, with a 4-hour minimum. But getting an actual rate meant email, and the reservations address on file bounced outright (undeliverable). We’re re-routing through a different contact now. A venue can be perfectly available and still be hard to book if its digital front door doesn’t work.

Why the numbers don’t match

₱1,200 a head sounds workable until you see what it’s actually priced against. Metro Manila hotel banquet rooms don’t rent the room separately from the food — the “venue fee” is baked into a per-person minimum, and that minimum starts closer to ₱2,500–₱3,500 once AV, service staff, and a real seated meal are included. We broke down the same pattern across five live Manila listings in our Metro Manila venue pricing guide — the cheapest all-inclusive per-head package we found live on VenueKonnex, The Marquis Events Place in BGC, starts at ₱2,750 per person with no separate venue fee. That’s still above ₱1,200 a head, but it’s the closest a hotel-style banquet gets to this budget anywhere in the market right now.

If a hotel ballroom is non-negotiable, the honest options are: raise the per-head budget toward ₱2,500+, cut the guest count, or trade the sit-down banquet for a different room format. A performance-style room like the CCP Black Box Theater rents at a flat ~₱180,000 per show rather than per head, which changes the math entirely for a 100-guest program built around a stage or ceremony instead of a seated meal. A garden pavilion like The Pergola bundles catering starting at 100 covers with a ₱15,000 reservation fee to hold the date — a different cost structure worth comparing directly against a hotel minimum.

What we’re doing next

We’re chasing a direct rate from Rizal Park Hotel through a working contact, and following up on Manila Prince Hotel’s proposal to see if the pencil-hold problem resolves closer to the date. If neither pencils out under ₱200,000, the next move is presenting the planner with the Marquis-style per-head package as the realistic floor, or revisiting guest count. We’ll update this once a venue is actually booked.

This is the same pattern we’ve seen across other Metro Manila cases — see how a Christmas party found its real number after its first choice went quiet in this ₱23,250-to-₱380,000 case, and how a government-run venue’s paperwork requirements pushed one planner to a faster backup in this ₱15,000 aircon-hall story.

FAQ: Booking a 100-guest event in Metro Manila on a tight budget

What does a 100-guest hotel event actually cost in Manila?
Based on real quotes gathered this month, expect ₱2,500–₱3,500 per person once AV, service, and a full meal are included — ₱250,000 to ₱392,000 total for 100 guests. See our full venue cost guide for how that compares by guest count.

Is ₱1,200 per head realistic anywhere in Metro Manila?
Not for a full hotel banquet package. It’s closer to what a non-catered function room, a community hall, or a bring-your-own-caterer venue can hit. Package-inclusive venues like The Marquis get closest at ₱2,750/head.

Why did a “fully available” venue still stall?
Rizal Park Hotel confirmed date and capacity by phone in a day, but its listed reservations email bounced. Availability and reachability are two different problems — always confirm you have a working contact before you count a venue as an option.

What should I do if my budget is below the market rate?
Raise the per-head number, trim the guest list, or switch venue types — a flat-fee performance space or a reservation-fee garden pavilion prices completely differently than a hotel banquet minimum.
