The Farmhouse is our go-to in Barrie for honest, local comfort food. The rustic, cozy space feels like home, and the friendly service keeps things easy. Plates come out hearty and well-seasoned—think crispy fried chicken, stacked burgers, creamy mac, and great daily soups—plus fresh salads and sides that don’t feel like an afterthought. We love the nods to local producers and the relaxed waterfront vibe (sunset dinners are extra nice). Cocktails are solid, local beers are cold, and portions are generous without being over the top. If you’re craving warm hospitality and classic flavours done right, The Farmhouse delivers.

My fiancé and I brought our dog here and dined in for the 1st time on Sat. July 5th, 2025 after discovering that the Farmhouse is dog friendly (patio only). I called about 30 mins. prior to our arrival and was politely advised by the Hostess that we were unable to book a reservation since the outdoor patio area is a first-come first-served basis (which was totally fine). When we arrived, we were greeted by friendly staff and seated promptly at around 6:30 pm. Our female server was also so sweet and brought a bowl of water for our dog right away.

We ended up ordering the cheesy crab and lobster dip and bruschetta for our appetizers and I was genuinely impressed that they used real fresh crab and lobster for the dip. The crab and lobster did NOT taste frozen, rubbery or watery whatsoever and the tomatoes and herbs from the bruschetta were also fragrant and a delight to eat.

For our mains, my fiancé ordered the 'Randy Bo Bandy Burger' and I ordered the '8 oz Beer & Bacon Glazed Pork Loin.' I loved the glaze and the subtle taste of beer from my pork loin. The only reason why I'm giving 4 out 5 stars for food was because my pork loin was dry. Other than that, we still loved and enjoyed our meals. Pricing seemed fair to us and the hospitality/service and overall ambience were noticeably efficient, friendly, clean, and inviting. 😊

I am definitely coming back here!

Jessica was our server, and was phenomenal, super cheerful and friendly, checked on us frequently, really amazing!

We started with the Jalapeño Corn Fritters, probably one of the greatest appetizers I’ve ever had. It came with 8 crispy corn fritters each with a jalapeño on top, and a delicious buffalo aioli. It was amazing, great portions, great food!! 5/5

For our entree I got the Chicken Avocado Sandwich, which was amazing, the chicken was juicy, bacon was perfectly cooked for a sandwich – not too crispy and not too soft, the sauce it came with was amazing and the avocado was perfect! 4.5/5 definitely getting it again – so so good.
Then my sides were the farm fries and feta salad, both delicious. The fries were incredible – highly recommend, some of the best fries I’ve had! Salad was also really good.

My wife got the Beef Dip, which was really good too. Shredded beef on a bun with horseradish aioli and crispy onions, very good 4/5.
Her sides were mac & cheese and rosemary potatoes. I wouldn’t recommend the potatoes, they’re pretty average 1.5/5, you could probably make better ones at home. The mac & cheese however was amazing, made with real cheese and with a homemade quality! 4/5

We didn’t have room for dessert but next time I’m there I’ll try some and leave another review.

I highly recommend for a cute date night or a family dinner out! I can’t wait to try the patio in the summer!
