🏙 Other Notables in Bacolod & Nearby Towns

If you want to explore outside Silay a bit, here are a few:
    • Daku Balay (Bacolod City) — This is a heritage structure in Bacolod itself. It was declared an Important Cultural Property.
    • The Ruins (Talisay City) — Though it is more of a mansion ruin than an intact ancestral house, it’s iconic and worth visiting.
    • Infante House in La Carlota City — It is sometimes included in heritage tours of Negros.
    • Hacienda houses / Mansions — Some of the sugar haciendas have old mansions or colonial houses associated with them; e.g. Hacienda Rosalia has been mentioned in proposals for heritage listing.

We were hoping to see the museum but this house is temporarily closed. The driver of our tour said it is currently under renovation. However, there was no sign upto when it will be closed. While you're here, take note of the beautiful wall art in front of the house.

I recently visited a historical site in Silay City, located on Cinco de Nobyembre Street, and while I was excited to explore, I discovered that it's currently under renovation. It’s a bit disappointing, as I was looking forward to seeing this piece of Negros Occidental history up close. However, I could still appreciate how well it has been preserved over time. You can feel the history in the air, and I can't wait to return once the renovations are completed. It’s definitely a place worth visiting for anyone interested in local history!
