This museum is FREE but they do have a donation box at near the entrance. I was impressed with the size and collection; European, African, Native American and Asian.

They also had the Monet to Matisse collection; 1850-1950. This is not free and ranges from $10-19.75. Veterans and students pay $15.

What surprised me was that the museum etiquette of the patrons was HORRIBLE. I saw one woman touching a portrait and another hand almost touching a Monet and they were Caucasians. I’ve been to the MET, Getty, etc and I’ve never seen such behavior by adults. But only in the south!! Smh

Otherwise, the collection is wonderful; Monet, Cezanne, Renoir, Degas et al. It’s strange how we had artist of African decent but their art is never as expensive nor treasured. You would think during black history month there would be a gallery depicting black artist.

They have African clay jugs, the largest collection. The video in area shows women from different countries making them. I enjoyed the video.

I highly recommend visiting this museum!!

We took our 19 year old daughter here for her birthday, and had a WONDERFUL time! The museum was gorgeous! The associates who work there are friendly and professional, and we LOVED the gift shop! We will definitely be going back as often as possible. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience!

Birmingham offered numerous exceptional museums and attractions that we had the pleasure of visiting. Among them was a free museum that was exceptionally well-organized and managed. I highly recommend it, but it’s not suitable for young children.
