Absolute gem although I didn't have my kids with me the day I visited, I totally noticed and appreciated how interactive and kid friendly the museum was. Will definitely be back. It was a really lovely experience.

Spectacular and outstanding museum in the heart of Brighton. The museum has a host of displays which are informative and thoroughly interesting Power, Passion & Protest, Elaine Evans Archaeology Gallery, Ancient Egypt, Fine Art, Mr Willet's popular pottery, Fashion & Style, Images of Brighton, World Stories & Performance. The Power, Passion and Protest talks about the struggles of different groups in society trying to gain recognition for equality. The Elaine Evans Archaeology Gallery talks about the Stone Age and men and women from that period and how they lived and there is some interesting model faces to see as well as artefacts such as flint heads whick look amazing. Mr Willet's popular pottery hosts a wonderful range of lovely pottery which looks absolutely fantastic and The images of Brighton showcase some lovely photographs of Brighton over the years giving you an idea how it has changed and evolved over the years. The Fashion & Style displays talks about the Fashion and Style in Brighton over the years and you can see some amazing clothing and World Stories speaks about some interesting stories of people and cultures from around the world who now live in Brighton and is enlightening stuff to hear about. Fine Art showcases some great artwork and the Perfomance gallery talks about the interests of Performance over the years. There is a cafe selling a great range of refreshments at reasonable prices and there is a shop selling a great range of souvenirs. Overall this is an enlightening, interesting, intriguing and great place to visit making for a wonderful day out. Well worth a visit whilst in Brighton.

A good place to go with potential to be better. What I loved about the Brighton museum is it's variety of historical and local lore which presented the opportunity to cover the very basics (such as the Egyptian exhibit). It was really great to see not only a diverse history of Brighton & Hove, but also that members of staff had the opportunity to express their own creative passions here which gave it's own merit of exploration. Although not to my personal taste, the current mod exhibition served it's purpose well. The passion and protest exhibit was also a great addition and I will be using the insights I have gained to form part of my practice development in the equality and diversity module of my formal apprenticeship. What was disappointing, was the amount of fashion displays. The mod exhibition followed by a Ben Sherman takeover had overtaken a significant amount of the museum. I think that if they had been spread out separately or combined into the backspace that the Mod exhibition was in it would have been enough. I do hope with the rotation of exhibits on offer come January we will see less of similarity and a more diverse range of exhibitions on offer.
