We had our wedding here catered and hosted by the resort at 530pm on 4/20/2024.
Pros:
Set up was very beautiful, tables and overall ambiance was good.
Food was excellent, lots of guest compliments on the food.
Location was convenient to Dumaguete.
Cons:
The owner was not there, so no one was in charge of the very inexperienced staff of 3.
Lack of water readily available. When i arrived (groom), the guests, around 65 total guest, were asking me where they could get water, there were no water pitchers on the table, and never were throughout the evening. i had to ask the staff to please pour water for my guest, as it was around 85 degrees Fahrenheit, and with the humidity, it felt like 95 (35 C). The only water was a 5 gallon jug of ice water, that was located back in the service area where the staff of 3 sat. It was only served once throughout the evening at the tables that we know of, and the glasses were taken away early, my guest were complaining that if they went to dance with the band, when they came back, their water glasses were gone, and it happened to me, when i ask for more glasses i was told they were all dirty, so i went to my car got an empty coke bottle washed it out and use that for water.
From my experience in the restaurant/ catering business for over 15 years, the staff was not a catering staff, they were very inexperienced and did not seem to know the catering business or how the serving of guest that well at all.
No wine glasses on the table, to do a wedding toast with, even though we were told there would be, only water goblets as seen in the photos. The wine we brought we ended up giving most of it away at the end of the evening.
Staff eating before the guest and band had all eaten. The staff got the last of the food before the band got a chance to eat. The lechon, (that we supplied) was scraped clean and a full plate of pork was taken away by a staff member, as the band was at the buffet table and before they had the chance to eat, so they got no lechon, my wife and i felt bad so we gave them the food that was leftover at the bride and groom table.
No soap in either CR to wash hands with. Only a small half filled sachet of tide laundry soap.
Overall, we had a good evening, but some of the basic necessities were left unfulfilled, such as water and soap and an experienced staff.
The owner did apologize for not being there, and the issues we experienced, and said she would get the staffs side of the story when she returned back to the resort, i expected to hear back from her, but there was no follow up at all so far, that was several days ago. I'm sure if she could have been there, these unfortunate things probably would have not happened. The wedding was 6 days before this review.
